Rent-a-motorbike

In South Africa Andre had a motorbike. He has been looking at some bikes here but he's not in a hurry to buy one yet. He had a BMW GS1200 in Cape Town. Here's a picture of that one, this was at the Buffalo Rally in Mosselbay in 2007. What a fun weekend. I miss that.

Oh, I don't ride, I just sit on the back and hold on tight!

Now Andre's been looking at some other bikes too like the Buell from Harley Davidson. He rented it three weeks ago for two days while he was on leave.

I went with for a ride. We did an hour's ride to Schaffhausen (because we know the way there without a GPS! No GPS on the bike..). It felt good being on a bike again, but this one was definitely less comfortable than his BMW. This is important for me! You've got to be able to sit comfortably if you're going to sit in one position for at least an hour at a time. At first the seat felt really good, but after 45 minutes I learnt this is only a 45 minute bike! The seat was still fine, but my knees started hurting. My legs had to be more bent on this bike. So no, we're not getting this one!

  1. Fran did mention before i should maybe get a bike, but it does seem like me. I would also not have known to check if the passenger can sit for longer then 45 minutes.
