No that's not a spelling error, that's how these 'dudes' like to spell the word board... I don't know where my husband finds out about all these boards to ride and sports to try out. We were trying to think of a board he has not ridden on and we couldn't. He's tried them all: surfing, body boarding, kite surfing, windsurfing, skiing, snowboarding and now this freebord is the third kind of skateboard he has tried.
He found this guy who is from Hawaii, now living in Luzern, who sells freebords. It's basically like snowboarding, but without the snow. It supposed to be the exact feeling that you get on a snowboard. I wouldn't know, I haven't tried either!

Andre is just borrowing this board until Wednesday. By the way, the shop is called Goofy & Regular and is in Luzern, a great surf shop if you're looking for that kind of thing here. Really helpful (and able to speak English) people working there.

The board has six wheels instead of four like other skateboards. It has two smaller wheels sort of in between each of the other two, which allows you to slide like you would on snow. This to me also looks like the part which makes you fall! Andre had a really hard fall on his first day on Friday. Luckily the guy gave him all the protective gear too and luckily Andre had it on. Otherwise his head would not have felt too great now. His head literally hit the road and bounced off again. Oh and his really old fleecy top that I've been trying to get rid of now has a hole on the back where he fell. I immediately said, "Yay! Now we can throw it out!" But no no, it's actually still with us.

Andre's fan club!
These kids just finished school for the day and there was a whole bunch of them around Andre. They were trying their best to remember the English they've been learning for the past years, but all they remembered was, "What is your name?" so I helped out with a bit of high German.
At first I thought now this is something I need to learn to do because then maybe going on the snow won't be that scary. I'm still making up my mind. It's definitely not as easy as the guy made it sound! You'll see later in the video that the four "usual" wheels are never all four touching the ground, so you're kind of moving between then. You'll see what I mean.

These were just some pictures from the first day I took with my camera when my video camera decided to take the rest of the day off. I'll try to post the video tomorrow.
