What cheese should I use to make my own cheese fondue at home or should I buy those packets of cheese that says for fondue?
I have not actually bought a fondue pot yet. Just starting to think about it. It was my husband's idea, someone who does not have to consider the amount of melted cheese he consumes, unlike me! So I'm not sure yet if it is such a good idea to have a cheese fondue pot in the house... But I'm sure it could be fun as long as I don't over do it!
Any fondue tips?
Dear Anneliese
ReplyDeleteYou should go to a good dairy and buy their house mixture of fondue cheese. Don't buy the sealed grocery store packets. Then, don't forget to rub the inside of the fondue pot with cut garlic before you cook (I like to add some finely minced garlic to the cheese too). For the wine, if you go to Coop and ask for a fondue cooking wine, they should be able to point you in the direction of something cheap and suitable (buy a better one to drink ;).
Let me know if you have any questions!

Hello!
ReplyDeleteGruyère and emmental are the traditional cheeses to use in fondue...along with a bit of white wine.
Enjoy!
Hi Romy and E!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the fondue tips!! I will follow your advice and try it out soon. Will let you know how it went!
Looking forward to it :-)
