Baby study materials

I think I've done all the reading I can before baby arrives. I'm even re-reading some of the books! I've made notes for Andre or marked pages for him to read too. Let's hope we're ready and remember it all when she arrives!

Here's what I used:

This was the very first book I bought. Some don't believe in so much routine, but both Andre and I like routine so that's what we're going to do.

My next reading material was the HypnoBirthing book. We went for HypnoBirthing classes and found it very helpful. Still of course to try it out during the birth!

Instead of What to expect when you're expecting which everybody seems to buy I got this book above on my kindle. Good before during and after info and after a friend lent us What to expect I still prefer this one.

Gina Ford recommended this book above in her book and I'm happy to learn as much as possible about sleep! It supports her way of getting babies to sleep for longer stretches of time during the night and to sleep through the night as soon as possible.

One of Andre's colleagues lent us these two books. I scanned through them, but by now I either know most of what to expect or don't want to know any more details that will stress me out and have me worried unnecessarily which is what HypnoBirthing is also about.

And then I ordered this DVD which we found very good. Will see how it works out in practise, but basically it is about how to calm your baby. According to this doctor a baby has a calming reflex  and so it teaches you the 5 methods of calming your baby. I'll take all the help and tips I can get!

Here I am in my final week before due date... Of course it doesn't mean that this is my final week before baby arrives, but I'm hoping she won't make us wait to long!

38 Weeks

It was a beautiful sunny day here last Sunday. Andre wanted to fly his quadrocopter somewhere on a field and we found this area of farmland near our house.

After some flying he took these photos of me. I'm exactly 38 weeks pregnant in these photos. Now less than 2 more weeks to due date! Let's hope baby Mostert won't make us wait too long...

British Virgin Islands: a Video

I have finally finished editing the first video of our two holidays with my dad and Colleen on the yacht this year. It only took me nearly 5 months to finish editing this one! Tomorrow I will start on the next one. Warning: It's a long video this one, about 15 minutes.

My expiry date

I was typing an email to family in Afrikaans now and wanted to talk about my due date. I didn't know what 'due date' was in Afrikaans so looked it up on google translate. (Shocking to have to translate a word into my home language.) Anyway, it told me that 'due date' in Afrikaans is 'vervaldatum' which directly translates to 'expiry date'. I found this quite funny- the idea that I will be expiring soon! Makes me feel like a carton of milk which will soon be expiring... I decided to just go with the English 'due date' in the middle of my Afrikaans sentence instead.

Tomorrow I will get Andre to take a picture of me at 38 weeks so you can see what I look like two weeks before my "expiry date". In the meantime, here are weeks 35, 36 and 37. 

Baby movements captured

I managed to capture some of baby Daisy's movements while she's still inside. Usually she'll be doing summersaults until I get the camera and then stops. These clips were taken between 33 and 37 weeks. Some a little spooky seeing something move under my skin like that!
