Day 60: Rhubarb Gin

Thursday, 21st May 2020
Weather: Hot and sunny

We started the day by building a new chest. We've been looking for something that would be both coffee table and storage and it had to fit into very specific dimensions. I think we did well finding that and we really like how it looks too.

Isabella and I then went for a morning bike ride for nearly 2 hours.

After lunch it was time for school work. It's fun when school work includes hoola hooping and folding airplanes! There was also measurement (how far could the airplanes fly), spelling, grammar and punctuation to do as well as more work on fossils and artefacts.

Tabby spent lots of time in the garden with us. We are so lucky that he doesn't try to escape outside. He would walk out with me when I go to hang the washing out but stays close and walks straight back in when I call him. Treats have served us well for training! Hopefully he continues this way. Still, we're not taking any chances loosing him so he is always on his leash when we're playing in the garden. You never know when he might get distracted by a bird or a bug and we don't yet know what he'll do when the old neighbourhood cat comes to visit. Tabby doesn't mind his harness and leash one bit though.

We're trying out a rhubarb gin recipe! It's going to take 3 weeks so tasting will have to wait still. The rhubarb has been sitting in caster sugar for 24 hours and it's now time to add the gin. Hoping it will turn nice and pink! (The jar was just for a pretty picture as we could obviously not get it mixed in it. It turned out to be a bigger recipe and smaller jar than we thought!)

  1. Baie oulik Isabella! Jy leer soveel crafts. Die Rabarber Gin klink baaie interessant. En soos ek al gesê het, julle koffietafel/stoorplek lyk regtig baie mooi!
