Weather: cloudy
Today was a bit of a fail with school work.
Isabella never feels like reading, so we have to fight to get it done and most days I choose to avoid the battle and so we don't get to reading. Every other day or so I decide that we will definitely be reading every day from now on, but then we usually don't read the next day and have to start all over again. She does read some random things like my emails sometimes.
We've all had enough of the online maths lessons that get sent to us via school. They started out being great, but they're still the same and the pace is just too slow after doing it for so many weeks. It's probably the same pace as at school to cater for everyone but I trust they do some ability group work and after Isabella has done the general lesson at home she is not going to want to do any more challenging work with me. I'm sure she would with her teacher though.
English was ok but one of the activities was a word search and it really had way too many words to search for. Isabella does not enjoy word searches. I think Andre did most of it for her, or helped her with most of it at least. I was busy with office work at that time.
History was good, I like that they learn some history bits. The topic this week has just been a bit worrying to little minds. But oh well, she's dealing with it fine. It's about the Great Fire of London in 1666 and today we listened to some poems and songs and wrote a sentence about our favourite one. We also ended up having a conversation about what is flammable in our house and how easily our house would burn down... Hopefully no scary dreams tonight.
When the maths had her in tears towards the end of the morning we decided to quit and went for a cycle. Then I got out my teaching resources from when I studied teaching and she really enjoyed doing a work card which was also related to what her actual lesson was about.
I also found I didn't take any photos today except of the cat and Isabella's school work to upload for school.
To top it all, we decided to skip tap dance again. I'm not making her do it anymore if she doesn't want to. She doesn't like doing it via Zoom much. At least she had a nice play with a friend in our garden. Now that we're allowed to have up to six people from outside our family in our garden, we decided to have a first play date at home. We didn't have six friends over! Only one. The girls were really good trying trying their best to stay apart most of the time.
Hoping tomorrow will be an easier day. We're all exhausted.
Ek kan dink julle is moeg!
